Founded 72 years ago by seven families with vineyards in the prestigious Montagne de Reims region of Champagne, the Palmer rosé is a classic blend of chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier. Its barrel aging and 10% reserve red wine gives the Palmer rosé a pronounced red-fruit flavor that will gratify everyone at the table. 91 points. Retail prices range from $65 to $80.

Orange roses evoke energy and enthusiasm, and the orange-tinted, cherry-colored nonvintage Domaine Michael Briday Rosé Crémant de Bourgogne is a good complement to that. Crémant is the French wine term for sparkling wines made by the traditional (Champagne) method.

Second-generation Stephane Briday and his wife Sandrine run the 38-acre vineyard and winery, founded in 1976 in the Cote Chalonnaise section of Burgundy. Their Crémant is pure pinot noir with pungent cherry and strawberry aromas and flavors. If your mother finds Champagne too tart or acidic, she’ll love this crémant’s softer texture, and you’ll love the retail price of less than $25. 88 points.

If bubbly wines are not to her taste, your mother might love the faintly peach-colored 2017 Balletto Rosé of Pinot Noir Russian River Valley. It’s made from 100% pinot noir grown in a cool climate section of Russian River Valley that Balletto planted exclusively for rosé still wine.

This consistently delicate and lightly colored rosé delivers a red-fruit flavor with undercurrents of guava and watermelon and passion-fruit-like acidity. This is one of California’s most refreshing rosés. 90 points. Retail price is less than $20.
